Real Estate Agents Support Emergency Room At Levine Children's Hospital

RE/MAX Raises Funds For Region's Only Emergency Room For Children

(Denver, Colo., October 19, 2007) - The Levine Children's Hospital, opening its doors tomorrow, will be one of the three largest hospitals in the Southeast and the largest children's hospital between Washington D.C. and Atlanta. This 12-story, 234-bed facility will provide the most advanced medical care and healing comfort to kids and their families. Planners took special care in designing the emergency department - including a teddy bear on every gurney - that will be the region's first 24-hour pediatric emergency department. Planners took special care in designing the hospital's emergency department, including a teddy bear on every gurney.

This state-of-the art medical facility became a reality with the help of generous community partners. Twenty-two Carolina RE/MAX offices committed to raising $500,000 by 2011 to support Levine Children's Hospital. In recognition of their commitment, the Children's Emergency Department will be named as a gift to the children of the Carolinas from RE/MAX.

"We all know that children don't pick the most convenient time to get in to trouble," said Page Stroup, Executive Director of The Children's Fund. "So, giving families around-the-clock access to the best emergency medical care was of the utmost importance in designing the new hospital. We couldn't have done it without support from our friends at RE/MAX."

Children's Hospital was previously located at the Carolinas Medical Center, but met physical limitations. The new Levine Children's Hospital will serve the area's growing youth population, while maintaining close proximity to the Carolinas Medical Center's Level One Trauma Facility. Fully outfitted with the latest in emergency medical equipment, the 12-bay Emergency Room at LCH is staffed by experienced pediatric emergency specialists, and is the first 24-hour facility of its kind in the region.

"We feel so passionately that children deserve the very best when it comes to medical treatment," said Cindy Sikorski, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Executive Realty in Charlotte, NC, who, along with other RE/MAX agents, toured the hospital on Oct. 10. "We help families move in to these neighborhoods and become a part of our community. So, we feel it's our responsibility to do our best to support them once they're here."

In 2006, Sikorski and her sales associates raised $55,000 for the Children's Miracle Network with individual pledges through the RE/MAX Miracle Home program and a golf tournament that has now become an annual fundraising event. RE/MAX Executive Realty along with other RE/MAX offices in the Charlotte area have pledged to raise $100,000 in 2007 and will surpass that goal.

It's one effort in a list of many that individual RE/MAX offices have taken on in support of the Children's Miracle Network, a charity embraced by RE/MAX across North America. From 1992 to 2006, RE/MAX offices in the Charlotte region have raised over $450,000 for Children's Miracle Network/Levine Children's Hospital, including $110,000 in 2006 alone.
