(Greenwood Village, Colo., May 31, 2006) – When the final tabulation of 2005 contributions to the Children’s Miracle Network by members of the RE/MAX real estate network was complete, it was $9.9 million.  It marked the 14th consecutive year that their efforts topped the previous year and brought the 14 year total of funds raised for the children’s cause to $65.8 million.

The RE/MAX of Florida and Carolinas region astounded everyone with $1.4 million - $992,552 from Florida and $512,333 from the Carolinas.  RE/MAX of Western Canada raised more than $1 million for the first time.  The RE/MAX organization was recognized by Children’s Miracle Network for its second consecutive year as a Million dollar Miracle Maker, a designation for each sponsor who increased their support by more than $1 million.

In 1992, the Children’s Miracle Network was selected as the primary cause for the RE/MAX organization with individual RE/MAX affiliates and offices participating in numerous and creative ways.  Many agents pledge a portion of every commission earned, while others may make lump sum contributions.  More than 500 RE/MAX offices are “Miracle Offices” with every agent making a financial commitment to the cause.  A familiar attachment to RE/MAX for sale yard signs is the “Miracle Home” rider indicating that the RE/MAX agent has designated funds to the Children’s Miracle Network.

“Children’s Miracle Network is an integral part of the RE/MAX organization’s fundamental values,” said Carolynn Bond, RE/MAX community affairs director.  “These funds touch the lives of 17 million children each year through the outstanding medical work of network hospitals in the communities they serve.  It is privilege to speak on behalf of the RE/MAX affiliates and say we are proud to be part of such a necessary and valuable service for the children who are treated in these hospitals.   Anyone who has visited one of the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals understands the importance of the work being done and the dedication of the professional staffs who truly perform miracles.”

According to a quality enhancement report, conducted with all Children’s Miracle Network hospitals the funds raised in 2005 will provide more than 1,605 neonatal intensive care unit beds, perform 4,113 brain MRIs, make possible 295 bone marrow transplants, repair 1,012 hearts and result in 877 children being able to live a life without cancer.
