RE/MAX Cofounders named to IFA Hall of Fame

(Palm Springs, Calif., March 1, 2006) - Dave and Gail Liniger, chairman and vice-chairman and co-founders of the global real estate franchise network RE/MAX International, were named recipients of the Hall of Fame Award during banquet ceremonies of the 46th Annual International Franchise Association Convention at the Palm Springs Convention Center. From its creation in January 1973, RE/MAX has grown to more than 115,000 sales associates operating out of 6,200 franchised offices in 63 countries. In fact, the Linigers took temporary leave from their own 33rd RE/MAX International Convention in Las Vegas to receive the Award. Established in 1979, the Hall of Fame honor is the oldest and most prestigious award conferred by the IFA. The winner must be a franchisor or franchisee who has contributed significantly to the advancement of franchising and to the benefit of IFA and the franchising community. That contribution is made through successful franchising programs, innovative activities within franchising and service to the association. It is conferred upon legendary franchisors who are pioneers in franchising and/or founders of companies whose unassailable track records are examples of the best in franchising. This award was intended to identify and recognize publicly those individuals who, as franchisors, have contributed most to making franchising the acknowledged leader in distribution methods. Such individuals if not already a legend in franchising should be expected to become one.

"To be recognized in this manner by the International Franchise Association is an extreme honor," said Dave Liniger. "Certainly, the business model of franchising has had a powerful impact in many industries and contributes immeasurably to economies around the world. Gail and I have been fortunate to be a part of such a marvelous business concept and are flattered to be included among those who have received this distinctive award in past years."

Past recipients of the IFA Hall of Fame award include Frederick A. DeLuca, Subway Restaurants (2004), James Whitman McLamore, Burger King Corp./ Nate H. Sherman, Midas International Corp. (1996), Ray Kroc, McDonald's Corporation (1986), David Thomas, Wendy's International (1993) and Colonel Harland Sanders, KFC Corp. (1986). The first to receive the honor was William Rosenberg, Dunkin' Donuts in 1979.

Among many educational and business session during the IFA convention, the Sunday opening general session featured as keynote speakers, Washington D.C. power-couple, James Carville (Democrat) and Mary Matalin (Republican). Between them they have worked for every president over the last 25 years.
