(Greenwood Village, Colo., February 17, 2006) - RE/MAX associates in North America increased their fund raising efforts and contributions to Children's Miracle Network by 18.5 percent in 2005 compared to the previous year. The final tabulations on 2005 were $9.6 million compared to $8.1 million in 2004, resulting in total contributions of more than $67 million since the RE/MAX network named Children's Miracle Network as its primary cause marketing charity in 1992.
"This is truly amazing," said Carolynn Bond, director of community affairs and liaison to Children's Miracle Network for RE/MAX International. "Each year, the RE/MAX affiliates dig deeper into their own resources and work harder and more creatively to create these funds for such a worthwhile cause. The many hospitals across North America that serve so many children truly depend on these types of contributions."
A variety of methods are employed by RE/MAX associates and offices in raising money each year. Some associates contribute on behalf of each real estate transaction, often identifying listed properties as "RE/MAX Miracle Homes," while others make lump sum contributions. Many offices are known as "Miracle Offices," with every associate in the office making some type of contribution commitment to Children's Miracle Network. Affiliates with RE/MAX in Canada distinguished themselves again this year by raising nearly $3.1 million.
"It has become obvious that RE/MAX associates love the work being done by Children's Miracle Network," Bond added. "Why else would the total be larger every year? All you have to do is see the results these dollars make in children's lives. Then, it's easy to understand why."
Each year more than 17 million children are assisted through the funds of Children's Miracle Network's 170 affiliated hospitals.
