Most people think of Niagara Falls as a place to visit in summer, but the falls are beautiful all year long. Due to the volume of water, the falls never fully freeze and amazing ice formations form along the edges. Check out the Youtube video link for an up-close view. If you do visit the falls in winter, make sure to dress in layers. The mist from the falls can turn to ice quickly.

One of the high lights of the Niagara Falls area is of course the Falls, but coming in a close second is the Casino. The casino has slots, tables and everything that you would imagine, including live entertainment (in-house bands playing while you gamble in addition to famous comediennes, concerts, etc), upscale restaurants, spa facilities, and a hotel.

Gorgeous, dramatic sightseeing! People come in from all over the world to see the falls, the whirlpools, the rapids. Niagra Falls is only blocks from Casino Niagara and shops! It is also a gateway to Canada, our neighbor to the north.

I have two favorite parts to visiting the falls. The first is parking my car at the quiet end of Goat Island and walking the entire circumference which is surrounded by the rapids on either side leading to the resplendent misting falls on both sides. No matter how many times I see them, I am entranced. There are also small bridges that let you cross over to Three Sisters Island, still in its natural state and fun to walk around on. My second favorite part is Devil's Hole which has stone stairs that take you down from the top of the ravine, through the trees, and past the caves to the Lower Niagara River below where, if you are lucky, you can watch the Whirlpool Jet Boat pass by on one of its runs. It looks so thrilling..this is still on my bucket list!

I used to love taking my four daughters here when they were young. It was always a day of fun and adventure. They are all adults now and they often talk fondly of those ventures to the Falls.
