For us locals, Abma's is a staple of Wyckoff life year round. Kids love to go feed the animals (cows, horses, goats, sheep, bunnies, chickens and more) and moms love it for the freshest produce and eggs you can find and possibly the best chicken salad you've ever tasted. But in the fall each year, the rest of the tri-state area finds Abma's.

Growing up in Bergen County we had our pick of hayrides, apple picking and pumpkins in our backyard. There was Demarest, DePiero's, Van Riper's, and Tice just to name a few. As many of these have closed their doors, it is harder to find a family-owned farm to celebrate the autumn activities we all love. Abma's gives us this and more. Hayrides through their fields lead to an array of pumpkins and when you're done cider and donuts are waiting. Add in the amazing fall foliage and you'll have a day your family won't soon forget!

Thinking about how to navigate the commute from NJ to Midtown East/Grand Central Station? Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes offer at least a partial solution. A few times during the morning commute only, Coach runs a bus that goes directly to Port Authority and then continues along 42nd Street-no switching to the subway or the cross town bus. It makes three stops-6th Ave, Grand Central and Second Ave. A Jersey answer to direct commuting to Grand Central!

You've started to outgrow your apartment in NYC, Hoboken or Brooklyn and you're thinking about the burbs but you really don't want to give up the convenience and walkability of the city. I was in your shoes and found the Lincoln District of Wyckoff. I can now say I live within a quarter mile walk to the supermarket, nail salon, CVS, Aoyama (an awesome sushi restaurant), Mandara (a great pizza joint and Italian), Starbucks, as well as two huge parks and the James McFaul Environmental Center (acres of park land and animal reserve). There are several neighborhoods located around the "Triangle Section" of Wyckoff, where our three main streets meet, that are completely accessible to shopping, dining, schools and the daily conveniences of life. Check us out!

Love Goldberg's Bagels at Boulder Run shopping center! So popular that there can be a long line but don't fret, the staff keeps everyone moving through quickly. My boys love the Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a bagel. I prefer the sesame flagel and a hazelnut coffee. We take our breakfast to the nearby environmental center for a morning picnic.

Not able to say goodbye to summer yet! I had the most refreshing, light drink at Aldo's in Wyckoff last night! A ginger beer drink with a lime but not a beer! Beware... you will surely want another! Great atmosphere in the bar/lounge area and by 8:00 pm, the place was packed.

A Wyckoff mainstay, this peaceful place is a great place to visit any season of the year. There are trails to walk, wildlife in outdoor enclosures and exhibits to enjoy indoors at the center. The pond is pretty in any season. There are always plenty of interesting programs being offered here too. Once a pig farm, this 81 acre site is a real gem and a joy to visit any time of the year.

Love chocolate? You will love this store! They have handmade chocolates. You can order gift baskets, or have your child's birthday party there. I have ordered so many gifts from this store and they can customize it for you. Visit the store at 382 Main Street or just shop online. The owners are great a husband and wife team, Jay and Marcia. I am such a fan but am not alone as they were voted 2010 Best Candy Shop in Bergen County by 201 Magazine.

A recent article on the Wyckoff Patch provides more information on the recent tax revaluation that has begun in Wyckoff. As the revaluation began in October, field inspectors will be visiting all homes to determine their current market values by inspecting both interiors and exteriors. Appraisers will then determine a value for each home, which must be approved by the tax assessor and the Bergen County Board of Taxation. If the values are approved, they will be used for 2015 taxes. In order to provide more information on the tax revaluation, there is an information session being held on January 15 at the Wyckoff Library. For more details, you can view the article on Wyckoff Patch.
