Summit is home to the historic and enchanting Reeves Reed Arboretum. The arboretum has been listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. • Summit's comfortable tree-lined neighborhoods are home to 22,000 residents. It has been reported Manhattan's financial elite prefers Summit real estate because of its high end homes featuring extraordinary architecture and the New Jersey Transit's Midtown Direct in the center of town. Although Summit is all that and more, it is also a multicultural community, speaking 20 or more different languages.

Summit's downtown is a busy "mini" Manhattan with unique shops plus five star restaurants, including steak houses, upscale French and Italian cuisine and interesting bistros. It has top ranked schools and recreational programs for all ages, and it is important to note the all-star high school football team "the Hilltoppers". It is just a fifteen minute ride to Newark Liberty Airport and a few miles to major highways including, Route 78, Route 22 and the Garden State Parkway. Summit is home to many cultural activities, beautiful parks, bicycle and walking trails where neighbors gather to sip a Starbucks and catch up. If this is not enough, The Short Hills Mall is two miles away.

If you are a first time buyer (and if you have not owned a home in the prior three years, you qualify) and you are saving to have 20% down to avoid paying PMI, there are banks offering loans with as low as 5% down and NO PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance). There are homes in Summit as low as $300,000 and as high as several million and interest rates are still very, very low! Now, if it would just stop snowing, we could go shop and see what a beautiful area serves NYC commuters!!! Two train lines come together in Summit, the morning rush runs like subways!! There is no shortage of parking at the station, while other towns have waiting lists you get a parking permit as soon as you buy or rent a home here!

Because Summit is a hub, where several train lines come together, it is especially popular with NYC commuters. Frequent express trains leave during commuter hours to Penn Station (6th Ave and 34th St) directly beneath Madison Square Garden. There is also a Park and Ride at the end of Springfield Ave for an express bus to Port Authority (8th Ave and 42 St). Their other main line goes to New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Stirling, Millington and Basking Ridge. The towns are so pretty that buyers are hard pressed to choose a town!!
