We have a new sushi house in town which is absolutely amazing. The Sushi was so fresh and the chef has a distinctive creative flare with his presentation of the dishes.

After enjoying a wonderful dinner for three adults we were shocked when the check came and it was only $54; we had a lot of food. Nice atmosphere, beautifully decorated dinning area and lots of room for large groups. It is also BYOB and right next to Masson Celler's for a bottle of wine.

Rutherford has become one of the hottest towns the last few years. Young people are moving in because of the easy train or bus commute and highly rated schools. Developers have been building new housing the last few years, homes are being renovated, and Starbucks, who carefully looks for great places, has moved in along with new gyms and restaurants.

Whether it is the town's fall programs starting with the town Street Fair, to the Halloween Spooktacular, or Tournament of Bands, to the Ragamuffin Parade, there is always something going on in this high quality of life walk-able town!

Mason's Cellar is located on Park Avenue in the heart of Rutherford, a short walk from Rutherford train station. Not only do they have a wonderful selection of wine and beer, it is a fun experience to explore the original vault. For many years Mason's Cellar was known as Boiling Springs Bank and when it became the new liquor store in town there was no better place to store some of the stores fine wines. You can wander freely and check out this piece of Rutherford's history. Say hello to the friendly owners and the staff who always have a smile for their customers and are a source of information if you need a little advice. Watch out for their wine tasting events where you can sample a selection of their wines before choosing that special bottle to have with dinner.

  • Downtown Rutherford's Steve and Andrea's Restaurant has the best pancakes in town. A perfect combination of pancake and crepe. Yummy, try them out when you get the chance.

Don't overlook the Rutherford Public Library when looking for things to do, and best of all, its free! Your library card gives you access to more than just books. Resources include free activities for the little ones such as Drop In Story Time, free movie screenings, music programs or Paws to Read. Children can practice their reading skills by reading to Rodney, a therapy dog, who doesn't complain if their reading is not perfect. There is also a Museum Pass Program. Residents can check out the pass for free access to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, the Museum of Modern Art and the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, just to name a few. • Thanks to the Rutherford Fire Department for containing this morning's fire at Eros Greek Restaurant in the Park Avenue Shopping District. It could have been a lot worse. As always, thanks for doing a super job!

Great news! Incredibly nostalgic ice skating is returning to Memorial Field! Brings me back to my childhood skating with the McGovern Crew from Irving Place. Gosh my feet always felt so cold, but what fun, fun times!

One of the things I love about Rutherford, especially during the holiday season, is just how hometown it feels! The neighborhoods are inviting and then all of the lights and shopping of Park Avenue. All of this is within 30 minutes of Manhattan!

Step back in time to a town of beautiful Victorians and Colonials. Rutherford is also known for its great schools, great restaurants, and great neighbors! Walk the downtown full of small shops and restaurants and feel the welcome of a small town with all the sophistication of a world capital minutes away.

Rutherford's Annual holiday was held Saturday, November 30th, 2013.

The fun kicked off at 4pm with the parade. The parade started down by Union School and made its way up to Chestnut. From Chestnut it will made a left onto Ames and continued up Park Ave. The parade ended in front of Borough Hall.

There was not one, but TWO trees lit after the parade. The town tree in front of the library was lit followed by the tree at the William Carlos Williams Center. The party will continued until around 9 pm.

As for Santa.... he gave the Reindeer a rest, and instead, traveled on a bright red fire truck !!

As someone who grew up in Rutherford, I can say the town has grown over the years. The tree lined streets and highly regarded school systems are only a few of the reasons Rutherford has been able to grow. For people looking to get away from the "city" lifestyle or just looking for a place to start a family, Rutherford has much to offer. One major draw for moving to the "Borough of Trees" is that it is a commuter friendly town. Whether you need to go Uptown, Downtown or Mid Town, you can get there from Rutherford!

Park Ave in the center of town is home to some well know restaurants. Whatever your palate, chances are you will find a restaurant to fit your need. From home made pasta to Mediterranean cuisine to fine dining, Rutherford has it all.

I could spend hours talking about how great of a town this is, but I think it is best if you experience Rutherford for yourself!
