Dumont covers a total area of 1,986 square miles and has some wonderful features. The town has five schools: Honiss School (k-8), Grant (k-5), Selzer school (k-8), Lincoln (k-5) and Dumont High School. All of these make up the Dumont Public School District.

There are two major parks in Dumont. The first is Memorial Park which is located on the east side of Dumont. The field has five ball parks, one tennis court, a basketball court, and a pavilion. There is a nice playground as well. During the summer, Memorial Park is used for the Dumont Summer Recreation Program. The other park in Dumont is Twin Boro Field, located on the opposite side of the town. Twin Boro is a huge field which is used for recreational football, soccer and has a field for men's softball. Gina's Field is next to Twin Boro, consisting of two girls softball fields and a playground. Dumont Swim Club is to the right of Twin Boro and part of the parking lot, holds as a roller hockey rink for Dumont's Hockey League.

Some annual events include Dumont Day, Octoberfest, The Dumont Winter Festival, and an annual Memorial Day Parade and celebration. The New Jersey Transit 166 and 167 bus provides service between Dumont and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan; the 186 goes to the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal; and local service is available on the 753 and 772.

Camp Merritt was a sprawling 770 Acre camp built in 1918 for the troops (Doughboys) who would proceed to Hoboken by train then to the World War in Europe. With 168 Kitchens and 30 baseball teams it was a virtual City. Harry S. Truman & Alvin York passed through Camp Merritt. The surprise is who the monument is actually dedicated to and how they died at the camp in NJ...never making it to 'the war to end all wars'. This video gives a brief description of the monument at "the circle" as it's known locally and it's history.
