John Smiley works with RE/MAX stakeholders on the network’s business technology needs, and with external service providers to identify innovations RE/MAX should consider. He develops technology and product roadmaps, and oversees projects that deliver new or improved solutions. He also promotes RE/MAX technology leadership at industry events.
John joined RE/MAX World Headquarters in 2012, in his current position.
John was born in the Los Angeles area and was raised near Kansas City. He has always been interested in technology and began his career as a programmer. Early in his career, he started a small chain of computer retail stores in 1983 that sold Macintosh computers before Apple was cool.
He now has more than 35 years of experience in the technology field, both in the private and public sectors. He's been a Senior Systems Engineer with Electronic Data Systems, a Senior Executive with Accenture, and Vice President, Information Technology with TeleTech Holdings. Right before RE/MAX, he was Vice President of Technology Solutions at Eventus Solutions Group in Denver
John and his wife, Cathy, live in Highlands Ranch, Colo., and have a son and a daughter. Cathy is an assistant manager at Williams Sonoma, and she coordinates the cooking and chef programs at her store. In his free time, John enjoys worldwide travel, and is an avid motorcycle rider. He’s also hard at work restoring a 1970 Oldsmobile convertible muscle car.
