Gary Weil oversees state and federal franchise regulatory compliance, trademark and copyright matters, and legal strategy for international expansion. He also provides legal guidance to senior management on all aspects of business operations, including franchisor-franchisee relationships, contract negotiations and general corporate matters.
Gary joined RE/MAX World Headquarters in 1985 as the first full-time legal counsel. He was named Vice President in 1996.
Raised in Columbus, Ohio, Gary earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University in Columbus and his law degree from Capital University Law School, also located in Columbus.
In 1978, he was admitted to the bar of both the Colorado Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, 10th Judicial District. From 1978 to 1982, Gary was in private practice with two Denver-area law firms, with emphasis on real estate, corporate reorganizations and general corporate matters. From 1982 to 1985, he was Regional Corporate Counsel for Coldwell Banker in Englewood, Colo.
Gary is a member of the American Bar Association (and the Forum on Franchising Section of the ABA), the Colorado Bar Association and the Denver Bar Association.
Gary’s primary interests outside of work are sports (tennis and golf), travel and spoiling his Goldendoodle.
